The newly established Wuzhen Internet International Convention Center will be the main venue for the Third World Internet Conference (WIC), said Ge Huijun, director of the publicity department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, at the 3rd WIC press conference held by the State Council Information Office on Oct 12, in Beijing.

The new center has a floor area of 81,000 square meters. It was designed by Wang Shu, the first Chinese winner of the Pritzker Prize, the world's top prize in architecture, and has been designated as an ongoing site for the WIC.

The conference center impresses with its respect for both tradition and modernity. The whole building is clad with 26 billion grey tiles, a traditional Jiangnan (at the lower reaches of the Changjiang River) style, inner-connected with 51,000 wire ropes, a metaphor for the invisible modern Internet world.

Apart from the new conference center, a series of other accomplishments show that Wuzhen is ready for the upcoming conference, a grand occasion in the Internet community. Wuzhen has been equipped with 26 ten-gigabit optical cables and has launched a group of smart programs, such as the Zhejiang Big Data Trading Center and 5G telematics.

The third World Internet Conference, hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Zhejiang Provincial Government, will take place in Wuzhen, Tongxiang of Zhejiang province from Nov 16 to 18.
