Smart tech helps care for elderly

2017-11-09

Wuzhen's elderly care center is employing some of the latest technology to ensure the best care for its residents.

Diao is one of the residents at the Zhejiang province elderly care center. She wears a smart bracelet which enables her to make a call for help in the event of an emergency or if she is in distress.

By using a low-energy chip with GPS, when an elderly resident presses their "help" button, the bracelet sends that information to the care center's control desk which is attended 24-7.

According to a staff member from the center, since the smart bracelets were first introduced in 2015, emergency on-call services have been speedily dispatched to residents more than 30 times.
