Cyberspace official meets the press

2017-11-16

Ren Xianliang, deputy director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, answered questions at a press conference on the Fourth World Internet Conference on Nov 16 in Beijing.

Asked about the highlights of this year's conference, Ren said that two newly-added components of the event, cutting-edge technologies and the internet and society, will stimulate discussion and dialogue, bring attention to trends in internet development and cast the world's eyes on the application of the internet in poverty relief, disaster reduction and culture protection.

Internet organizations such as the Global System for Mobile Communications Alliance and the World Intellectual Property Organization will participate in those discussions.

The Release Ceremony for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, which was initiated last year, will be another highlight, Liu said. It will showcase the latest technologies and developments and draw close attention from the global internet industry.
