Industrial internet industry accelerates growth

The economic scale of China's industrial internet industry reached 2.1 trillion yuan ($306.6 billion) in 2019 and several industrial clusters have been formed, such as those in the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Northeast Old Industrial Base, and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
2020 is the final year of the three-year action plan for the development of the industrial internet. The steady progress of the infrastructure construction of the industrial internet has strongly supported high-quality economic development. At present, the total number of industrial internet logo registrations exceeds 5.5 billion, and more than 40 million of facilities have been connected to industrial internet platforms.
Xiao Yaqing, minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said at the opening ceremony of the 2020 Industrial Internet Conference, which was held from Aug 29 to 31, that more support measures will be further exerted to accelerate the construction of industrial internet infrastructure in the future to cultivate a group of system solution providers and operation service companies, as well as to improve the digital application capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Liu Liehong, vice minister of MIIT, also noted that the country will further promote the construction of industrial internet platforms, expand the integrated applications of "5G + Industrial Internet", as well as accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry.
In the next few years, the development environment of the industrial internet industry will be improved, while policy guarantees for funds, land, and talents will be strengthened to attract major projects, as well as to promote international exchanges and cooperation. Industrial internet infrastructure will be constructed and improved, while more industrial internet platform companies and solution providers with national influence will be cultivated.
In addition, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate in cloud services, promoting the development and application of industrial big data, enhancing the value of data resources, as well as improving industrial internet security capabilities.
