The Sixth World Internet Conference was held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province, China from 20 to 22 October 2019.
With the theme of "Intelligent Interconnection for Openness and Cooperation: Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace" and upholding the principles of openness, equality, mutual trust and win-win cooperation, the conference invited global champions and heavyweight figures of the Internet industry to discuss and address the concerns of international community about the development of new technologies and new business forms such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence and internet of things.
There were 20 sub-forums during the conference, focusing on the four key sectors of "science and technology", "industry and economy", "humanity and society", and "cooperation and governance". In addition to established forums such as the Ministerial Forum, Business Leader’s Dialogue and International High-Level Think Tank Forum, the conference also held forums on hot topics such as open-source chips, industrial digitalization, Internet cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative, financial technology, Internet-enabled public welfare, Internet and youth, legal protection of data in the cyberspace, development of net-work security technologies and international cooperation.
The "Light of Internet" Expo, a main section of the conference, had a new exhibition hall this year, with a total floor area of 40,000 square meters. The Expo made full use of New products/Technological Releases, Talent and Business Matchmakings, and other platforms to empower enterprises and speed up project implementation.
Building on the success of previous sessions, the Release of Leading Scientific and Technological Achievements in this year's conference further extended its global outreach, with more achievements collected from small and medium-sized enterprises. In keeping with the latest trend of global Internet development, some 15 top level Internet research achievements were released during the session.
The conference also held the Grand Final and Award Ceremony of "Road to Wuzhen" Global Internet Competition, as well as various side events like salons and nightcaps, with the aim of providing opportunities for exchanges among industry stakeholders and promoting business cooperation and transformation of R&D Research results.
