More than 1,000 volunteers from universities in Zhejiang will volunteer during the upcoming World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit on Nov 16-18.

The volunteers, known as Xiaowutong(a name that implies welcoming guests from around the world), dressed up in specially designed costumes and made their first appearance on Nov 12 at the WIC’s volunteer launching ceremony. 

A total of three costumes were unveiled: a male outfit, a female outfit and a female dress, all with a dominant blue hue. The color reflects not only the conference's spirit of connectivitybut also Wuzhen's famous indigo fabric and beautiful scenery.

The designer took inspiration from a wide range of traditional Wuzhen elements to design the costumes, including wood carving doors, blue and white porcelain, and thread-bound ancient books.
