Senior CPC official meets foreign World Internet Conference guests

WUZHEN, Zhejiang, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Wang Huning met with foreign guests attending the Fourth World Internet Conference on Sunday.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat, met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister Prajin Juntong, Mongolia Deputy Prime Minister Ulziisaikhan Enkhtuvshin, former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins.

When meeting with Prajin, Wang said that China is willing to work with the Thai side to increase exchanges on Internet governance to build a global Internet governance system.

Prajin said Thailand will push forward Internet cooperation with China for an open, fair and safe cyberspace.

When meeting with Enkhtuvshin, Wang said China attaches great importance to its relations with Mongolia, and stands ready to deepen political mutual trust and implement consensus reached by the two countries' leaders.

Noting that developing ties with China is a priority of Mongolia's foreign policy, Enkhtuvshin said his country always adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative.

During his meeting with de Villepin, Wang said China highly values its relations with France and Europe. He called on both sides to contribute to just and fair Internet governance.

Hailing China's entry into a new era, de Villepin said he will continue his efforts to improve France-China relations, and push forward bilateral cooperation on new technology, cyberspace governance and climate change.

When meeting with Cook, Wang that China and the United States enjoy wide common interest on the Internet area. He called on the two sides to maintain the trend of current cooperation and work together to build a community of shared future in cyberspace.

Cook said Apple appreciates China's open policy, and is willing to be a law abiding and responsible company in China so as to further Internet cooperation.

During his meeting with Robbins, Wang said he hopes the Cisco will continue technology innovation and deepen cooperation between Internet companies from both countries.

Robbins expressed his willingness to play an active role in boosting U.S.-China cooperation.

The Fourth World Internet Conference is held in Wuzhen, east China's Zhejiang Province from Sunday to Tuesday. The theme of this year's Conference is "Developing Digital Economy for Openness and Shared Benefits - Building a Community of Common Future in Cyberspace".
