New Year Message from Eugene Kaspersky, Co-founder and CEO of Kaspersky Lab and Member of the Recommendation Committee for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements

Dear all,

On the occasion of the Chinese Lunar New Year, I would like to express my sincere greetings to the whole World Internet Conference community. May the Year of Ox be full of happiness, health and new achievements!

Over the last year, the coronavirus pandemic has not only changed the physical world, it has also affected the speed of the digital transformation of many processes and, consequently, the cybercrime landscape. 

As technologies continue to evolve, companies are finding ways to create solutions that are more strategic and efficient than what came before. However, such racing ahead does little to encourage serious reflection on how secure these processes are, or how secure transmitted data is.

Hence, on the global scale our teams have been investing a lot of time and effort into the very important concept of Cyber Immunity. Indeed, the current cybersecurity landscape requires a different approach – a transition from 'cyber security' to 'cyber immunity', where the cost of a cyber attack is greater than the cost of the damage. Information systems should be designed and built to secure an ecosystem where everything is connected and that is the future we strive to bring on.

I'm also firmly convinced that 'security without borders' is one of the most effective ways of fighting cybercriminals. Thus, our teams around the world continue to work tirelessly in combatting the borderless threats out there, which are constantly growing – in both number and sophistication. 

Moreover, governments and industries need to invest in training security professionals and engineers and to seek technological solutions that will put security first and make life a lot more difficult for the attackers.

So may this New Year continue strengthening international cyberspace cooperation, multi-stakeholder dialogue and a safe cyberspace! Once again wishing you a Happy and Prosperous Lunar New year!
