Given the major needs of the large-scale, high-speed, refined and independent construction of national smart factories, the project directed by Prof Wang Wenhai has made breakthroughs in four major technical aspects: the overall design technology, the comprehensive security technology of safety and security, the perception optimization technology and the operation optimization technology. This project has developed a wide-area collaborative high-end large-scale programmable automation system featuring control collaboration, security and reliability, network enhancement, and operation optimization. The project has realized industrialization and large-scale promotion of more than 4,000 sets in energy, metallurgy, petrochemical, and environmental protection industries. The system of the project is complex, and the overall technology is difficult. The achievements have reached the advanced international level. Some technologies have reached the top international level.
(1) Overall design technology for wide-area collaborative high-end large-scale programmable automation system: it innovatively proposed a wide-area distributed collaborative automation system architecture and built a fully linked and integrated collaborative automation system platform; a data-driven, event-triggered control strategy and a distributed and efficient parallel collaborative execution mechanism were proposed for the first time. They can detect real-time anomalies caused by concurrent overload and sudden tasks and have realized anomaly detection and rapid recovery of scheduling synchronization. A series of hardware modules and wide-area monitoring software platforms were developed.
(2) Comprehensive security technology for wide-area collaborative high-end large-scale programmable automation system: it proposed and implemented multi-heterogeneity redundant fault tolerance technology for control modules, which effectively prevents single-point failure and common cause failure. The proposed comprehensive security technology for engineering programs realizes the whole life cycle security protection of program editing, compiling, publishing, updating, etc. The proposed industrial control system operation security technology solved such problems as industrial control scenario recognition and fast identity verification, formal encapsulation of equipment program, and trusted process reconstruction.
(3) Perception network optimization technology for wide-area collaborative high-end large-scale programmable automation system: it innovatively proposed load-adaptive channel access protocol and energy-efficient real-time routing protocol, high-robust sensing node deployment strategy, and topology optimization technology. High-utilization spatial-temporal sparse signal joint acquisition and transmission technology made breakthroughs in addressing the problems of high-performance transmission and dynamic self-organization for industrial networks and ensured the stability, latency, and dynamic network adaptability of high-end large-scale programmable automation systems.
(4) Operation optimization technology for wide-area collaborative high-end large-scale programmable automation system: a variety of new optimization methods for solving complex problems such as dynamic and static optimization were proposed, and a series of corresponding optimization software were developed. They solved the operation optimization problem of large-scale automation systems. They have been successfully applied to various industrial processes such as blast furnace ironmaking and olefin polymerization, solving multiple worldwide problems in operation optimization, especially large-scale blast furnace performance indicators, and multi-objective intelligent optimization systems for operating parameters, etc., and achieved momentous results.
