As transportation means and bulk consumer goods, vehicles are characterized by a long-life cycle, slow iteration, and a high replacement cost. However, user demand for intelligent connected vehicles cannot be met. The complementarity between mobile phones and vehicles is obvious. For example, vehicles feature a large display, excellent audio input and output capacity, and high sensor data precision, while mobile chips feature strong processing ability, a fast iteration speed, and a rich mobile application ecology. Account data and most usage habits of users are stored in mobile phones. In travel scenarios, all-scenario smart mobile-vehicle interconnection provides users with a better experience.


Product innovation

The product offers hundreds of millions of users an experience that "brings simplicity to technology and joy to users", enabling them to truly enjoy the benefits and care brought by science and technology in the context of 5G+AIoT. Users would develop interaction and usage habits based on all-scenario coverage, multi-device collaboration, and multi-model interaction.

Technology innovation

As the first open and compatible platform in the mobile phone-vehicle interconnection industry, the vivo all-scenario smart IoV system platform enables a massive number of existing vehicle owners to experience brand new all-scenario multi-model smart interconnection. Based on the encapsulation of and compatibility with interconnection protocols, there is no need for software updates on head units. Massive ecosphere content on mobile phones can also be provided in-vehicle. The whole system boasts big data, AI, the operating system kernel of the mobile phone/head unit, the virtual screen, the cross-platform application framework, and bottom-layer security capability at the system level.

AI vehicle scenario voice technology: Based on hardware and software advantages of mobile phones and head units as well as the functional differences among vertical types of voice assistants, users only need to give voice commands, and then the system can select the most suitable mic for sound reception, voice signal processing, and the ASR algorithm. Intentions are also intelligently assigned to the voice assistant of the most suitable vertical type for implementation.

Virtualization technology: The hardware of a head unit is virtualized into a device that can be controlled by a mobile phone. Therefore, mobile applications can be seamlessly integrated into the head unit. App developers do not have to be concerned with how images and sound are transmitted to head units for display and playing. As well, they do not need to adapt applications for different interconnection protocols. The original functions of mobile applications can be reused in design and development. A mobile application can serve users of mobile phones, head units, and other large-screen devices. The vivo all-scenario smart IoV system can select the most suitable screen and external audio device for displaying applications and playing audio files respectively.


Cross-platform application framework: Traditional applications and new rapid applications that do not require download and installation are the first supported applications, with excellent ecosphere compatibility.

Technical breakthrough in knob touch control: Natively, Android does not support knob events. However, vivo has turned the knob event into the standard Android focus switch event, to overcome the native Android limitation on focus searching and algorithm selection. Focus switch is realized by left and right knobs instead of the original algorithm selection in up, down, left, and right directions, seamlessly integrating common vehicle operations into Android mobile phones.

Bottom-layer security capability at the system level: Enhanced support with system-level and hardware-level eSE and TEE security capability.

Ecosphere innovation

The bottom-layer interconnection protocols are encapsulated through joint development with our partners, and their differences are shielded on the mobile phone server. A server can access vehicles with different interconnection protocols. The pioneering ecosphere compatibility mode in the industry is the most inclusive and open ecosphere mode in the mobile phone-vehicle interconnection industry.

Upper-layer application compatibility: Compatible with cross-platform applications and applications of third-party developers. Currently, the system supports various application ecosystem services such as navigation, music, communications, and IoT.

Intermediate-layer protocol framework compatibility: Compatible with the frameworks of Baidu, EasyConnection, and other companies, and simultaneously integrates vehicle models supported under different frameworks.

Bottom-layer compatibility for vehicle models: Supports 70+ vehicle brands and 700+ vehicle models, with industry-leading compatibility.
