Xi Jinping, who was secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC from 2002 to 2007, visited Wuzhen five times in six years to do field research on its development.
Thanks to the fast development of the Internet Plus economy and the boom of the Internet-based start-ups, information sector has become an important impetus driving forward industrial growth in East China's Zhejiang province.
The Second World Internet Conference (WIC) will be held in the river town of Wuzhen in East China's Zhejiang province on Dec 16-18.
China has become an important contributor to the development of Internet in the world instead of a country merely benefiting from it.
It took Wuzhen just 30 years to turn from a remote quiet town with its newly first built road to reach the outside world into a test field covered with Internet-oriented services.
"China is home to the largest number of Internet users and a vital, innovative and competitive Internet industry," said Fadi Chehade, President and CEO of ICANN.
